Managing Organization

The O’ong Maryono Pencak Silat Award is managed by the Indonesian Association for Humanity or Indonesia for Humanity (legally YSIK, but for banding purposes called IKA).

IKA is an 18-year-old grant-making organization whose vision is to contribute to a more just and diverse society and to sustainable development through financial support and the provision of knowledge and access to social networks. To achieve this vision, it employs the following strategies:

  • Mobilization and management of resources (funds, knowledge, and social networks) openly, accountably, and sustainably by granting them in support of civil society and marginalized groups
  • Capacity building of local organizations and community empowerment groups
  • Provision of financial support for emergency response to threats to human rights and for human rights defenders who are in need of protection and support

IKA manages private donations as well as funds from international donor institutions such as Australia Aid, NOVIB, HIVOS, 11.11.11, and OXFAM. As of 2015, it has distributed more than 500 small grants to civil society groups working to promote social justice and cultural diversity and to empower marginal groups and to victims of gross human rights violations who have been impoverished by social and political discrimination.

Currently IKA’s main grantmaking programs are:

  • Pundi Perempuan
  • PNPM Peduli
  • O’ong Maryono Pencak Silat Award
